A huge pop-up garden on an abandoned platform at Barbican station, had itself been abandoned.

We came in and cleared away broken planters, removed rogue buddleia, refashioned the remaining thirty planters into clusters interspersed with some old terracotta pots that we found elsewhere on the station.

We have planted them up with rosemary and grasses so that the new garden can survive with minimal maintenance as access to the platform is so restricted.

In July 2026, pupils from the Charterhouse Square School, which is near to the station, adopted the planters. They will be looking after the planters and, as you can see from the photo, have brightened them up with their bee-themed artwork.
