Following on from the success of our lockdown wildlife garden project, we were pleased to be supported by the Mayor of London and the Grow Back Greener Fund for a major project of further nature planting at Coram’s Fields.

Coram’s Fields is a children’s charity that serves as a safe place for all children to play, as well as offering an after school and holiday programme and youth centre for 13-29-year-olds, in the heart of London.

An orchard of mature mulberry, apple and almond trees – abandoned for decades – was restored and new fruit trees added.

A greenhouse and potting shed for the thriving gardening club was created from the abandoned chicken coop.

Raised beds and planters for wheelchair accessible growing were built.

And a long hedge of native species was planted along the whole length of an abandoned ditch.
