Find out how you can support our wildlife work at a Bee Friendly Trust Volunteer’s Evening.
One third of the UK’s bee population has disappeared over the past decade, while 24 percent of Europe’s bumblebees are threatened with extinction.
But, here at the Bee Friendly Trust, we’re trying to change that – by creating a network of flowering spaces across the UK that will provide honey bees and other pollinators with the forage and habitats they need.
To date, since the Trust began in 2016, we’ve installed our bee-friendly planters at almost 25 stations, created micro wildlife gardens and railway platform orchards. But we can’t look after all our sites on our own. Which is where you come in.
As a volunteer for the Bee Friendly Trust, you will be at the forefront of our conservation work. We need people to help weed and water our planters, to assist with the digging and landscaping of our wildlife gardens, to raise awareness and funds at events around the country, and to spread the Bee Friendly word.
In return, as a Bee Friendly Trust volunteer, you will be introduced to the wonderful world of bees. At our HQ in London, you will have the opportunity to learn about bees first hand, at our monthly beekeeping club. You will make enthusiastic and likeminded friends. You will know that the work you do – however great or small – is making a real difference to protecting the lives of Britain’s bees.
We appreciate that your time is precious, which is why the nature of our volunteering is very flexible: commit a few minutes a day or one hour a week over your weekly commute, devote a full day every other month; however much time you have to spare, it really does help.
