The thin strips of neglected space at Thatcham Railway Station weren’t a challenge for our team, who simply modified our standard planters to create these streamlined alternatives. Working in partnership with GWR, we installed two bee-friendly planters at the station in the spring of 2022.

We have also created a strip of wildflower meadow here. Our wildflower areas may look a little wild – but they’re meant to. We cut these areas back twice a year (in autumn and spring) then remove the grass to lower the fertility of the soil. This helps the pollinator-friendly perennial wildflowers, including cornflowers, borage, daisies and poppies, to thrive.
