We were approached by the family of Amanda Battini in 2021 with the request to create a commemorative bee-friendly tribute for a woman who loved nature and bees.

With donations from the family, friends and Amanda’s former workplace, Mills & Reeve LLP, we transformed the dilapidated planters at Cambridge Railway Station. Repairs were made to the many planters on the station’s platforms, while the brick planters at the entrance to the station were cleared and planted with lavenders and flowering herbs.

We also commissioned a striking iron structure by artist blacksmith Thomas Gontar, which depicts a bee at work in the hive. It sits, alongside a commemorative plaque, which reads “In Every Bee We See”, is installed at the front of the station.
