We embraced the “wild” at Newhaven Harbour Railway Station for our latest project with Southeast Communities Rail Partnership.

A substantial strip of railway siding had been long neglected and, despite being pretty overgrown, contained some decent plants for pollinators – and wildlife.

So instead of stripping the site right back, the BFT team did some mindful “trimming”, giving the pre-existing plants more room to flourish and nature more opportunity to thrive.

We installed one of our signature beehive bug hotels as well as some log stack bug hotels, and put up educational prints from our The Little Book of Pollinators to create a space that’s not only supportive of bees, bugs and other creepy crawlies but also useful for schools teaching their students about the power of pollination.
