Say hello to the latest skep (traditional beehive) to join The Bee Friendly Skep Exhibition.

Crocheted by the talented Louise of The Belfield Group in Derbyshire, her clever design will keep the skep (and its bees) warm on chilly days.

Her skep joins the display at Worcestershire Parkway Railway Station, Worcesteshire.

The Bee Friendly Skep Project was started with the intention of beginning new conversations around pollinators and the importance of creating safe habitats where they can thrive.

Skeps are a traditional form of beehive, originally woven from wicker or straw. Making them this way is a dying art so very much to be celebrated!

Our skeps are handmade from terracotta by Puro Ceramics and decorated by talented female artists and celebrity presenter Maddie Moate. We even ran some educational workshops for local Worcestershire schoolchildren so they could decorate their own skep, too!

The Bee Friendly Skep Project joins our other wildlife work at Worcestershire Park Railway Station, including floral planters, a wildflower meadow, bug hotels and a mural.

Thanks to GWR for their continued support of bees and this exhibition.
