The Bee Friendly Skep Project has now been unveiled in its new residence, at the bee championing Worcestershire Parkway Railway Station, where it will remain until June 2025.
Featuring the original six skeps – from female artists and award-winning BBC presenter Maddie Moate, the current exhibition of skeps (traditional beehives) now include three new skeps – one woven by one of the last remaining skep makers in the UK, Tina Cunningham; and two painted by schoolchildren from local schools Norton Juxton CofE School and Honeybourne Primary School.
The skeps go to Worcestershire Parkway to join many other Bee Friendly Trust projects at the station, which include planters, wildflower areas, bug hotels and an impressive waiting room mural.
This GWR station is a prime example of how beneficial railway stations can be as thriving wildlife habitats.
