From the National Trust’s Attingham Park, Shropshire to Worcestershire’s Norton Juxta Kempsey CofE Primary School; The Bee Friendly Trust Skep Project has taken to the road.

Our travelling exhibition, made possible thanks to funding from the Arts Council, already features six skeps painted by the award-winning presenter Maddie Moate and five talented female artists: Lucy Caddel, Esther Kirkpatrick, Hattie Gordon, Sarah Hoyle and Alice Baker.

Now, as we prepare to unveil the exhibition at its next location in the new year, we have been busy adding to its display – with two skeps painted by school children, as part of an educational bee-themed workshop led by our own bee expert, Dr Luke Dixon.

We spent a wonderful day with the pupils of Norton Juxta Kempsey CofE Primary School, learning all about how bees communicate, which flowers they prefer and why, how honey is made and lots more. Then the school’s Eco Council reps, inspired by what they’d learned, decorated their very own skep for The Bee Friendly Skep Project exhibition.

The exhibition will be launched at Worcestershire Parkway Rail Station in February 2025. Follow us on Instagram to stay updated.
