GWR commissioned four self-watering planters for its busy railway station in Newbury. Having canopies, the self-watering design of these planters will ensure the bee-friendly plants (hebe, lavender, rosemary, salvia, thyme and lemon balm) will continue to flourish year-round.

Reading Green Park Railway Station, Berkshire
We installed two self-watering planters on the concourse outside Reading Green Park Railway Station, in March 2024. These planters add to the bee-friendly planting already present throughout this new development and station, and add to GWR’s ever-expanding network of platform-based pollinator habitats.

Midgham Railway Station, Berkshire
Working with GWR, we installed two of our standard planters at Midgham Railway Station in Berkshire, in spring 2022. They may look small now, but the lavender and rosemary shrubs, in particular, will be a welcome forage spot for pollinators every summer.
Thatcham Railway Station, Berkshire
The thin strips of neglected space at Thatcham Railway Station weren’t a challenge for our team, who simply modified our standard planters to create these streamlined alternatives. Working in partnership with GWR, we installed two bee-friendly planters at the station in the spring of 2022.
Pangbourne Railway Station, Berkshire
The banks at the entrance to Pangbourne Railway Station were overgrown with brambles when our team arrived. With support from GWR, we cleared away the overgrowth and planted bee-friendly shrubs and flowers in what are the first stages of creating a welcoming habitat for all wildlife at the station.
