The small planter outside Amersham Railway Station is part of the original 1892 building. A community notice board sits inside it. We have restored that planter, along with all the others inside the station, to bring them back to their original splendour.

Alice Baker
When faced with the large-scale blank white walls of Worcestershire Parkway Railway Station, we knew we had the perfect canvas for an interactive and engaging art commissioned. So, with support from GWR, we commissioned Somerset-artist Alice Baker to create a mural depicting a world without pollinators – and the powerful change that can happen when …
Madeleine Higgs
In 2020, the Bee Friendly Trust launched a competition to create a unique sculpture that would draw public attention to the worrying fact that populations of honey bee and many other vital pollinators are dwindling. Ilkestone Railway Station, Derbyshire
Adding to our Derbyshire cluster of bee-friendly stations, created with support from East Midlands Railway, the Community Rail Network and with additional funding from generous donations and anonymous supports, is Ilkestone Railway Station. Here, we installed planters and cleared overgrown borders before filling them with flowering herbs and pollen-rich flowers.
Bug Hotels and Bird Boxes
Our talented team of gardeners give scrap pieces of wood new life by transforming them into bug hotels, bird boxes and homes for other wildlife, including hedgehogs and invertebrates.

After the exhibition came to a close, three of the four artworks were generously donated to the Bee Friendly Trust. ‘Bees in the City’ (pictured) by Helen Musselwhite – who typically works with …
